Meet the Team
The concept driving LiftSync was formed on the campus of the University of Tampa by UT students Matthew, Patrick, and Mariner. After developing and refining the broad parameters of their product the three students first unveiled LiftSync at the Startup Weekend Tampa Bay competition held on the UT campus. LiftSync was chosen by the judges’ panel as the winners of the weekend startup battle. LiftSync was subsequently voted the global winner of the Disruptors and Big Ideas track of the Global Startup Battle. The LiftSync team is now fully engaged in developing and currently working out an accelerator at The Lowth Entrepreneurship Center at The University of Tampa. LiftSync also recently took first place in SEEC 2016, the Southeastern Entrepreneurship Conference, beating out 24 university teams from the Southeastern United States.
Matthew Phillips - CEO
Matt is currently an entrepreneurship major at the University of Tampa. He competed at the collegiate level in basketball until his career was cut short due to an injury. Matt is deeply connected within the Tampa Bay legal community, as well as the surrounding fitness industry after playing collegiate basketball. Matt’s organizational, and networking skills have quickly gained the company a large amount of traction in a short amount of time.
Mariner Cheney - COO
Mariner is an international business and marketing major, with a strong vision for the company. As a former athlete, he understands the wants and needs of athletes in the gym. He worked as a carpenter for a small business in Seattle, where he was responsible for framing walls, siding, and erecting scaffolding, which the lives of his co workers depended on. This gave him valuable experience in organization, responsibility, and problem solving, which he is applying to LiftSync.
Patrick Schroeder - CFO
Dynamic and renaissance student driven towards philanthropy and adventure. Currently a student at University of Tampa with a perfect 4.0 GPA majored in philosophy and International Business and Entrepreneurship. A wide array of credentials and experience including biological research at Haputman-Woodward Medical Institute, and psychological research at the University of Buffalo. Participated as a United States student ambassador in association with People to People and leadership study at the National Young Leader's Conference. In addition to these actions, he participated in theological analysis and was head of sales at a small developing business located in Buffalo New York. He is highly motivated and a great communicator as well as a progressive thinker.
